Port Douglas Backpackers

Just read this review and it’s pretty much exactly what I wanted to say. Except it was 4.30am… Kept awake. Almost hopped in the car and drove back to Cairns… Nice & clean private room. Convenient location & close to everything. Staffs are great & understanding. However, the place is full of weird, inconsiderate & noisy guests that makes a lot of noises & gets rowdy till 3:00am. We are sleep deprived & didn’t have a pleasant stay. We know it’s not a 5-star resort, nor a 5-star hotel, but, we cannot comprehend how this establishment let their long term guests rule over the peace of this community. It’s far better to spend a few more dollars somewhere decent, better accommodation that will provide you a satisfactory, pleasant & wonderful holiday.

Port Douglas Backpackers I must day that Port Douglas Backpackers is the worst accommodation in the world and I experienced the most miserable moment because the staff were not honest and they deceived me and accused me as if I were all wrong. It was just normal when I checked in my private room with bathroom on 18 August. I was told that the room service was every day so that my room would be cleaned the next day and new towels would be supplied. I was happy to hear that because I needed a clean room with fresh towel after scuba diving. However, on 19 August, when I returned to my room after scuba diving around 4:00 pm, my room was not cleaned with no new towels. There was no one at the reception at that time. One female staff came back to the reception and I complained why there was no room service and no new fresh towels. The staff told me that my room was supposed to be cleaned but it was not done by mistake. She telephoned her boss to get instructions as to how and who will clean. After the phone, she tooled me that my room was not supposed to be cleaned. But she said so prior to the phone call. She told me that she never told me that my room would be serviced. She told me a lie accusing me that I was mistaken. I asked her name but she refuse to give me her name. I also requested three towels, but she gave me only two saying that there were three towels here. In the end, no one cleaned my room. The staff was not honest and accused me and told me a lie. She deceived me and shift the blame to me. I want to know her name and formal apologies from her. The next day on 20 August at 10;00 am, I complained a staff (different female) about what happened the day before yesterday and requested some refund and apologies but she just ignored me and said it was not her fault. She was representing Port Douglas Backpackers at the reception and should have contacted her boss about the issue; I asked her name but she refused to give me her name. I need her name and apologies. Both of them are cold- hearted, not kind, not caring, and not honest. I wish to get a refund for the worst service I ever had in my life. I was treated as a second citizen, although I am a paying customer. I am extremely angry now.
